Outward Bound Anakiwa School – Anakiwa,
Marlborough Sounds.
I attended an Outward Bound Instructor
Selection Course at Anakiwa. On day one we sat through a morning of
presentations, and then spent the afternoon observing a rock climbing session
on the crag. On the morning of Day Two we observed an ABL Session, and then a
session sailing on one of the OB Cutters. In the afternoon we did a presentation
each (I did a session teaching a couple of dance moves), then we got fitted out
for gear for a kayaking session. In the evening we went camping on the Queen
Charlotte Walkway. The following day (Day 3) we had a bush navigation session
to run, and then when we got back we went kayaking on the Pelorus River in the
afternoon. We then spent the night at the kayak camp. On day 4 we ran another
presentation (mine was on different feedback models, and ways of receiving
feedback), and then in the afternoon we had a panel interview. (4 days).
