Sea Kayak Trip with the OCKC on the Otago Harbour. (4 hours).
I went for a paddle on the Otago Harbour with a group of Sea Kayakers from the Otago Canoe and Kayak Club. I borrowed a kayak from Scott. It took a little bit of adjustment to fit well. We paddled from Back Beach to Harwood, and then down to Taiaroa Head. We then headed to the entrance of the harbour, where I felt a bit unnerved by the big swell coming in at the channel. We then headed back to Aramoana and landed at Spit Beach. We had lunch there before loading up and heading off.

We met Baz and got kitted out for a self-guided trip sea-kayaking around Okarito Lagoon. The tide was against us heading up to the far end of the main channel, and then we got into the river into the forest. On the way back the current assisted us. At the start of the trip I had to arrange another kayak for two of the ladies on our trip, because the rudder appeared to be sticking. I started at the back of the group in a single kayak, and then at the turn-around point I headed to the front of the group.
